Report to: Head of Department
Purpose of the Job:
To conduct high-quality research and teach undergraduate, postgraduate and research students as appropriate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares lectures and delivers them to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Sets tests, examinations and coursework.
- Administers and invigilates tests and examinations.
- Marks tests, coursework and examination scripts, compiles and grades examination results.
- Guides and advises students on their academic performance.
- Attends to students' non-academic challenges and refers those that need further counselling and guidance.
- Conducts research and disseminates research findings through conferences, seminars, and publications.
- Supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students undertaking research projects.
- Conducts seminars and tutorials.
- Carries out official administrative duties in the department as directed by the Head of Department.
- Contributes to the University and wider society through community service.
Person Specification:
- Should have an earned PhD or Master's degree on the PhD track in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution.
- Should have a Master of Medicine in Anatomy or Surgery from a recognized institution.
- Should have a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from a recognized institution with a minimum CGPA of 3.8.
- Must have evidence of registration with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners’ Council at the time of application.
- Should have proven academic ability in research, publication, and teaching.
- Should be computer literate.
- Should have a minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience at a recognized academic institution of higher learning.
- Should have at least three (3) scholarly publications in the area of specialization.
